Prerequisite: a grade of "C" or higher in ENGL 1002. Study of the structure and use of language, with emphasis on phonology (sound patterns), morphology (word structure), syntax (sentence structure), semantics (meaning), and pragmatics (language use), and some attention to child language acquisition, second language acquisition, sociolinguistics, and psycholinguistics.
